Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Her family is the fourth Roberts family that lived in Atlanta. The story began with her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was farmer. Her father had keen interest from a young age in theatre. He acted on the Emory University campus in 1952 as well as in various productions that were staged around Atlanta. In 1953, when he joined the Air force and was spotted alongside Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. They got married in 2005, and welcomed their first child, Eric Anthony in 1956. Walter attended Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana after leaving the Airforce in the year 1957. Walter started working at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. Walter along with Betty Lou produced a Saturday matinee local TV show for children known as Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964. This was a project that they funded themselves. In 1964, Betty Lou and Walter founded The Actors and Writers Workshop. The workshop lasted 6 years. Lelisa Billingsley who is also referred to as Lisa, was born in the year 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
