Her acting journey began at the age of six years old, when she starred in an advertisement for Cool Whip. On CBS's Listen Up!, the actress was offered her first television appearance when she was just seven years old. The following years, she played in the likes of Monk Bones or ER. Gretchen was a character on in the Disney Original Channel animated show Phineas and Ferb in 2007. After two years, her appearance, she got a role as Alex Dunphy for the smash TV show Modern Family. The rest of her cast won four Screen Actors Guild Awards for the Best Ensemble Performance in the category of Comedy Series. Ariel still does voice acting and voice acting, including characters like the ParaNorman CloudyWithAChanceOfMeatballs, and Scooby-Doo! Stage Fright. Ariel is a purple Belt in Taekwondo.
